- Big Bend National Park protects over 1250 square miles of Chihuahuan Desert north of the Rio Grande river in southwestern Texas. The Rio Grande forms the border between Mexico and the US.
- Guadalupe National Park
- This park, in the Northwestern tip of Texas, is named after 8,749 feet high Guadalupe Peak, the highest mountain in Texas. It was created in 1966.
